Gregory’s can boast one of the highest auction prices in Italy for Fausto Zonaro (1854 – 1929), with the unpublished masterpiece “Traveling on the Bosphorus,” a significant oil on canvas that sold at auction for €167,280 and was subsequently exhibited in the ‘FAUSTO ZONARO – Life and Light between Ottoman Splendors and the Italian Belle Époque’ show held in Florence in April 2015.
Additionally, among the orientalist-themed paintings, there is the watercolor on paper “Constantinople’s Harbour from Koum Kapou” by Count Amadeo Preziosi (1816 – 1882), which was auctioned for €31,980.
The works included in Gregory’s catalogs are primarily concentrated in the period from the early 19th century to the early 20th century, with many spanning the turn of the century. Artworks from the Romantic period and those approaching Impressionism and Divisionism are particularly sought after.
