“Silenzio n. 3: Quel giorno che…” by Raimondo Rimondi, created in 1985, belongs to the mature phase of the Bolognese sculptor’s research. The work develops a strongly symbolic language in which the human figure is reduced to presence, gesture and fragment, within a composition capable of suggesting tension, suspension and memory.
In “Silenzio n. 3: Quel giorno che…”, two bronze hands emerge from the sides and reach towards a large circular steel element, creating an intense visual relationship between material, space and gesture. The central void assumes a decisive role in the composition, becoming an active space charged with meaning. Furthermore, the contrast between the metallic surface of the steel and the more organic modelling of the bronze hands accentuates the tension between physical presence and evocative dimension.
The sculpture stands out for its strong scenographic impact and for the balance between solids and voids. Indeed, the work does not simply occupy space, but directly engages with it, using shadows, reflections and openings as integral parts of the composition. The result is a work of considerable narrative strength, consistent with an artistic research in which the body and gesture become instruments for addressing themes related to silence, waiting and the human condition.
