Silver flatware service by Morini Cacciari Bologna, 20th century

Argenteria Morini Cacciari, silver flatware service for eight, Bologna, 20th century.

The silver flatware service by Argenteria Morini Cacciari, created in Bologna during the 20th century, represents a significant example of Emilian silver production intended for the formal dining table. Designed for eight people, the set includes table flatware, fish cutlery, dessert flatware, and several serving pieces. Furthermore, the presence of specialised accessories, such as a cake server, sauce ladle, fish serving utensils, and bottle opener, confirms that the service was intended for complete and representative use.

From a stylistic point of view, the flatware features a sober design, with shaped handles and slightly curved terminals. However, the simplicity of the decorative scheme does not diminish the value of the ensemble; on the contrary, it highlights its versatility and continuity with the Italian table tradition. The workmanship favours balanced proportions, smooth surfaces, and measured details, in keeping with twentieth-century taste.

The hallmarks with the 800 standard and the 23-BO mark identify the service as Bolognese silver production, confirming its manufacturing origin. Furthermore, the calculated total weight of 4327.62 grams takes into account the different silver content in the knives and bottle opener, according to an evaluation consistent with the structure of these elements.

For its completeness, quality of materials, and provenance from a private Bolognese collection, the service represents an interesting example of twentieth-century Italian silverware, suitable both for collectors and for the enhancement of the traditional dining table.
