Auction 67 – BOLOGNESE COLLECTIONS

Bolognese Collections

We kicked off the 2024 auction season with the new auction: BOLOGNESE COLLECTIONS. Paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The event aimed to celebrate the period between the 19th and 20th centuries with a focus on local heritage, presenting a selection of works for Bolognese, Italian, and international art enthusiasts. All the proposed works come from passionate collectors who, over the years, have gathered paintings, drawings, and prints from both local and non-local artists, including some particularly noteworthy pieces.

Piccolo concerto” by Bruno Saetti is an example from the early period of the painter. The artist, known for his figurative style and particular attention to the atmospheres and details of scenes, is a prominent figure in the history of Italian art of the 20th century, thanks to his ability to capture the essence of daily life and his stylistic evolution over the years.

Also significant is the painting by Alberto Pasini, a painter known for landscape and orientalist scenes, appreciated for his ability to transport observers to distant lands through painting. It is impossible not to be captivated by the technical mastery of the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, which stands out in lot number 13.

Among the proposed artists celebrating Bolognese art and culture, we find the Bertelli father and son, who have portrayed Bolognese daily life, capturing the authenticity of street scenes and portraits that become true windows into the past. Particularly noteworthy are the oil painting “Il festone di vite“, painted by Luigi Bertelli, who participated in various exhibitions, and the landscapes of Flavio Bertelli, such as “Fiori di rosmarino” from 1937 and “Vecchie case (Carpegna)“. Each work by these masters represents a piece in the artistic history of Bologna.

During the auction, paintings by Carlo Corsi will also be offered, such as the two oils “Al parco” and the seascape in lot number 5, by Guglielmo Pizzirani, who left a mark on the local art scene with his sophisticated and experimental painting, and Alfredo Protti, famous for his sensitive and touching depictions and his provocative spirit.

The auction took place on Wednesday, January 24, starting at 3:00 PM, and participation would be exclusively online and with written and telephone bids. It would be possible to view the lots in person from Thursday, January 18, and the exhibition continued on Friday 19, Monday 22, and Tuesday 23 at the following times: 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM.
