CONTEMPORARY ART – DESIGN
Gregory’s next appointment will offer a selection of important works from private collections, presenting a fusion of contemporary art of international scope and iconic design objects and furnishings. From paintings to furniture, sculptures to lighting, each lot has been carefully chosen by our experts.
It will be possible to participate in the auction online and with written and telephone offers: the appointment is set for Wednesday 6 December at 3.00 pm CET and it will be possible to view the auction proposals in person during the exhibition on Thursday 30 November and Friday 1st, Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th December.
The selection includes some works by Maurizio Cattelan, known for the provocative irony and social criticism that are visible in works such as “Cuore, Pezzo di ricambio” and “Tarzan & Jane“. What also catches the eye is the unique work of Greg Colson which, like all of his works, offers a perspective on human and architectural interaction. Hermann Nitsch‘s creations celebrate the intensity and depth of human existence: we propose a mixed media from 1981.
We will also present works by artists such as Pino Pascali, who in his works combines the roots of Mediterranean culture with the playful dimension, the Japanese Yayoi Kusama, with her psychedelic and surreal art, Conrad Marca-Relli, famous for his works characterized by layers of canvas and paper, collages that combine abstraction and assembly of materials.
Sandro Chia will also be present during the event with some works that have as their subject stylized human figures that blend classical elements with contemporaneity.
Among others, the work by Paolo Scheggi created between 1965 and 1967 is striking: the cut and modeled surface creates effects of depth and movement, playing between real space and perceived space.
Andy Warhol‘s iconic “Marilyn” needs no introduction.
To complete the selection of works designed for a contemporary home, there are also design objects such as the Venini vases created by the minds of Tobia Scarpa and Fulvio Bianconi or the “Pausania” table lamp, designed by Ettore Sottsass for Artemide which does not simply illuminate the space, but transforms the environment with the creative use of light.
Giorgetti’s furnishings are part of the “Gallery” series, launched in 1975, offering models influenced by the style of the early 1900s rethought with a modern design. In the auction we also present the “Melandra” armchair by B & B Italia designed by Antonio Citterio, known for his style with gentle lines that combines innovative and traditional shapes with the choice of high quality materials.
The proposal continues with the “Corinto” furniture, designed by Ferdinando Meccani in 1978, an example of 1970s design that combines geometry, symmetry and attention to detail. Also presented at auction will be the “Chtador” floor lamp with modular modules by Terzani in polyurethane with polycarbonate diffuser, the “Sona” suspension created by Carlo Nason for Lumenform and the “Fontana Grande” lamp by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte.
