Design – 20th Century Decorative Arts

Gregory’s Auction House is happy to announce a new appointment for design enthusiasts: Auction 60 – Design and 20th Century Decorative Arts.

The auction will take place on Tuesday 6 June 2023 starting at 3.00 pm CEST and it will be possible to participate exclusively online and with written and telephone bids.

The exhibition will begin on Monday 29 May at Palazzo Brazzetti in via San Vitale 13 and will continue on Tuesday 30, Wednesday 31 and Thursday 1 June.

The selection of works includes, among others, furnishings, lights, designer glass and designer ceramics and objects.

Among the furnishings there will be the Togo lounge by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, the iconic LC4 chaise-longue by LeCorbusier, the 877 armchair by Gianfranco Frattini and three Nuvola Rossa modular bookcases by Vico Magistretti made by Cassina, the curved bamboo seats by Telemaco for Italo Gasparucci, armchairs and chairs by Alessandro Gioia for Colony, a selection of consoles, appliques, mirrors by Alain Delon for Maison Jansen. Continuing, the eye is captured by the mirrored surfaces of Beppe Vida, better known as Mister Luna, by the bedside tables from the “Mercadante” Collection by Vivai del Sud, by the Lacor table by Studio Smania and by a rectangular table with tusks in lacquered ivory wood from the Fratelli Boffi production.

As far as lighting is concerned, we present some long-stemmed lamps, such as the Parola lamp by Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni for FontanaArte, the pair of Papillona lamps by Tobia Scarpa for Flos and the 1073 by Gino Sarfatti for ArteLuce. We will continue with the colored resin lamp by Gaetano Pesce and the glass sculpture lamp by Foggini. Impossible not to notice the two nice metallic ostriches by Salvino Marsura, which support luminous spheres between their paws, the suggestive “Albero” lamps by Henri Fernandez and the suspended spheres by Antares with brushed pure gold.

Among the designer glass, we point out some pieces by the Venetians Venini and Barovier & Toso, of which we present respectively vases and leaf-shaped appliques. We also exhibit polychrome glass paste vases by Daum Nancy and Legras. As far as ceramics are concerned, a vase by Gio Ponti and two colored sculptures by Lenci stand out, namely the female figure entitled “Ave Maria” and the sculpture “Bimbo“.

To conclude with the Objects, you will be conquered by Piero Figura, with his candle holders and centerpieces.

We also remind you that we are selecting the material for the next auctions: our experts are available for free and confidential evaluations of works and entire collections to be proposed in our next appointments.
