The three “Model 1073” floor lamps, designed by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce, represent a perfect example of the functionalist and poetic design that established the Milanese designer’s international reputation. Created in the 1950s, these lamps embody formal purity and a conception of light as an architectural element, both hallmarks of Sarfatti’s work.
The structure, composed of painted metal and aluminium, is both essential and elegant. It develops through three slender stems supporting adjustable reflectors, capable of creating highly evocative effects of light and shadow. Every component adheres to a principle of rigorous functionality, while maintaining a refined aesthetic quality.
Through Model 1073, Sarfatti demonstrates his ability to combine technical innovation with visual simplicity, creating objects that transcend their practical purpose to become true icons of modern Italian design.
